L'Œuvre Soupe Maison offers complete hot meals to help the most disadvantaged in Lachine. Located at 1170 rue Notre-Dame, in Lachine, volunteers welcome beneficiaries every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:15 to 12:15 from September to May. Volunteers prepare more than 100 full hot meals in the kitchen, others collect the necessary food for the preparation of shopping bags and several provide service at the tables. No salary is paid to volunteers, all donations are directly applied for the welfare of the beneficiaries. A hundred beneficiaries are admitted to the Maison Soupe Foundation. Since its inception, tens of thousands of full hot meals have been served and thousands of bags of food have been distributed.

Nansi, sentinelle en Gériatrie sociale
Meet Nansi, a social geriatrician, and Mrs. Saint-Louis. Thank you to Mrs. Saint-Louis for welcoming us into her home.
Definition of Social Geriatrics (SG): SG stems primarily from medical expertise in geriatrics. Its main objective is to act to counteract pathological aging that can occur in seniors due to various bio-psycho-social factors. These are inherent characteristics of aging that make seniors more susceptible to experiencing a sudden decline in their health. The epithet "social" in social geriatrics serves as a reminder that the social determinants of health are as important as other determinants of health. Social geriatrics is an ecological approach to the health of seniors, aiming to promote local interventions addressing all the determinants of their health while respecting their rights and decision-making autonomy. The objectives of SG: 1. To mobilize community stakeholders to better support the health, quality of life, and ability of seniors to remain in their homes, respecting their preferences and decision-making autonomy. 2. The implementation of a broader screening structure to proactively identify health risks for seniors and intervene before a decline occurs. 3. Improved in-home support from professionals who can directly help identify and prevent health risks, as well as support and empower seniors to take control of their own health. 4. Enhanced continuity of service between community workers and professionals in the health and social services network through the implementation of structured mechanisms for information sharing and collaboration.
