Following the election of our general manager, Ludovic Fermely, as a borough councillor in Lachine, the CMRL has initiated a transition process aimed at ensuring continuity of activities, transparency and a good response to the expectations of the community.

In this context, the board of directors has appointed Flore Chalayer, formerly Coordinator of the Family Services program, as interim Executive Director. She will hold this position for as long as Ludovic remains an elected official. This transition reflects a commitment to stability and continuity for the organization.

Furthermore, Ludovic will remain at CMRL in a role as Strategic Advisor-Assistant Director, focusing on supporting the teams and the organization's development. To avoid any perception of a conflict of interest, he will no longer be involved in discussions with the borough and/or the City of Montreal.

Flore officially took office as interim CEO at the Annual General Meeting on June 4, 2026. In this context of change, there is also some wonderful personal news: Flore will be going on maternity leave starting in September 2026. The Board of Directors and the team have therefore taken the time to anticipate this period and adapt the transition plan to ensure business continuity and clear governance.

During this period, and in order to ensure clear governance, members of the board of directors, with the support of the team, will represent the CMRL and participate in the various consultations.

And in order to support this transition phase, the CMRL benefits from the support of two professional supervisors: one dedicated to supporting management, the other specifically mandated to support the team in these changes.

In parallel, the CMRL is currently conducting an organizational reflection process, which could lead to adjustments to certain work positions, an approach which is intended to be progressive and structured.

Finally, this period was also marked by departures from the team. Rayya, Senior Intervention Worker, left the organization last April, and Yasmine (Communications Officer) and Amal (Daycare Educator) left CMRL for exciting new personal projects. We sincerely thank them for their contributions. We also take this opportunity to acknowledge the departure of Francois Lemoine, a member of the CMRL Board of Directors, who will be replaced by Lorraine Huot, to whom we extend a warm welcome.

Overall, despite a period of significant transitions, the CMRL continues its mission in a climate of collaboration, stability and collective commitment.
